Back in CT after (counts backward on fingers) five weeks away! The house appears to be standing and in one piece. Weeds are high in the backyard vegetable patch, but the nice landscaping people kept the lawn mowed as promised (adds to list of bills to pay).
Temperature in house on arrival: 87 F First order of business (after feeding wrathful cat and unloading car): install air conditioner in bedroom
Now I have 176 manga and other assorted items to unpack. To work!
Ptolemy was at my parents' house the entire time; they had a sitter for the two weeks that we were all away at the beach. He was extremely pissed at me because, on top of taking him to a house with two other cats and leaving him there, I kept coming home and then leaving again. And now he's mad because I stuck him in a box and brought him back here, and I STILL won't let him go outside.
A cat's life is hard, I tell you.
If I go away for just two-three days, I sometimes leave him by himself with lots of food and water. If it's going to be more than two days, I get a catsitter (usually someone who just comes by the house every day, or every other day). And when I'm going to be away for weeks, I try to get him down to my parents' house where he can have human and feline company.
Was the kitty home or at a "kitty hotel" or with a sitter? I am trying to decide what to do when I go to a conference...
